How do you decide which newborn session location is the best fit for your family?

Alyson Teresa offers baby-led, lifestyle newborn photography. This means that no matter what location you choose, your images will be natural and organic vs. posed with lots of props. The focus of the images is on your baby, their sweet features, and your connection as a family. There are pros and cons to both in-home and in-studio location options, and I will break them down for you below!

In-Home Lifestyle Newborn Photography | Tampa, FL

The Benefits:

  1. You don’t have to leave the house! Leaving home with a newborn can be a challenge. When you choose to have your newborn photos done in your home, you don’t have to worry about relocating and can just focus on getting yourself and your family ready.
  2. Your photos will be totally unique to you and your family. I love in-home sessions because they are so personal and one-of-a-kind. We can play around with the unique features of your home to create images that are true to you and your family.
  3. Your gallery will likely have more variety. With more room to roam, your gallery will have more variety vs. a studio session. We can even go outside and use the front porch or backyard during your session if you’d like!
  4. Everyone is comfortable there. This is especially true for any toddler siblings! Kids who are a bit reserved may open up quicker to the idea of participating in photos if they are in their comfortable space.
  5. You can include the family pet(s)!

The Cons:

  1. You’ll need to declutter the areas of your home you want to use. I’m not saying go crazy cleaning the entire house, but if you know you’d like to photograph in a certain area i.e. the baby’s nursery, you’ll need to pick up so that the background of your images aren’t distracted by clutter.
  2. Some homes have very little natural light. This can make getting light and bright images difficult, and restrict us to hanging out by one window or door for your session.

Studio Lifestyle Newborn Photography | Tampa, FL

The Benefits:

  1. You don’t have to tidy the house. I will have the studio clean and set-up for you when you arrive, so you don’t have to worry about a thing!
  2. Your images will have a very clean, light airy and timeless feel. The South Tampa studio is painted with white walls and a light colored wood floor. I have a hand-painted canvas backdrop available for use to give us a little variety as well as neutral furniture, rugs and throws.

The Cons:

  1. No furry friends are allowed in the studio space at this time.
  2. You’ll have to pack up baby and all of their belongings.
  3. Your gallery may have less variety.

I hope this helps give you some direction on which option would be best for you and your family!
